Earwigs seek moisture and shelter—mulch, pots, and damp thresholds. We inspect harbourages, treat the quoted indoor and perimeter footprint, and advise on drainage, mulch set-back, and sealing so they stay outside.
Elongated reddish-brown insects with forceps-like cerci at the rear. European and common earwigs are frequent in South African gardens. Indoors they favour damp areas, pet bowls, and gaps under doors—not to be confused with small cockroach nymphs (different antennae and cerci) or silverfish (fish-shaped, no prominent pincers).
Earwigs hide under pots, mulch, and leaf litter by day and crawl toward moisture and light gaps at night. Irrigation splash lines, blocked drains, and clutter against walls create bridges into bathrooms and kitchens.
Nuisance indoors and occasional pinches; they do not structurally damage timber. Heavy outdoor pressure can mask if the real driver is unchecked mulch or a leaking hose bib against the wall.
Verminator maps damp harbourages and agrees an indoor and threshold footprint. We apply targeted residual treatment where quoted, advise on mulch set-back, drainage, and door sweeps, and schedule follow-up when purchased. Wide garden-only scopes without structure cooperation may be quoted separately.
